Ultra Clean by Zydot Shampoo Reviews

Intro: Using Ultra Clean For Weed Detox

Ultra Clean Shampoo is likely the second most popular detox shampoo, behind Old Style Aloe Toxin Rid. It is also likewise a shampoo used in the Macujo and Jerry G Methods for detoxing hair of marijuana and other drug residues. It is the number one selling detox shampoo (Aloe Rid has a prohibitive cost that makes it less sold even if more widely known).

The Science of Using Ultra Clean to pass a drug test (for detoxification of drugs like cannabis sativa):

Ultra Clean Shampoo by Zydot is used in the Jerry G Method and Macujo Method to detox hair from drug residues. Does science support its use?

In 2000, a study was published titled: “Effect of the shampoo Ultra Clean on drug concentrations in human hair.”[1] Hair samples were taken from cadavers with a known history of drug abuse. Each sample was parted into two fractions. One fraction was treated with Ultra Clean, the other was not. In the treated hair, there were slight decreases in metabolites for each drug tested. The biggest decrease was a 36 % decrease in THC residues. This was with only a single wash. The drug levels did not go below detectable, however. This suggests that it will require more than one wash or the use of the Macujo or Jerry G Methods to make it effective at removing enough drug residues to pass a hair drug test.

The International Journal of Legal Medicine published in 1997 a study named “Influence of the cosmetic treatment of hair on drug testing.” This time they tested dyeing and bleaching the hair to see if it removes drug residues. They found the affirmative.[2]

“The majority of the mean differences were in the range of 40%-60% (cocaine, benzoylecgonine, codeine, 6-acetyl morphine, and THC-COOH). For morphine, the mean difference was higher than 60%, and two cases (THC and nicotine) differed by approx. 30%.”

On the other hand, a 2017 study that analyzed hair samples collected from 136 subjects found detectable levels of THC in 77% of chronic users, 39% of light users, and zero in non-users, showcasing that the chance of having THC found in hair grows significantly with increased frequency of use.

This suggests that using Ultra Clean with the Jerry G Method of bleaching and dyeing two days apart can in fact remove enough drug residues to pass a drug test.

How to use Ultra Clean

Ultra Clean Instructions For Detoxifying Cannabis

Disclaimer: Leafexpert/FV Kasa is not the creator of the methods described below, nor can we recommend them. They are descriptions of what users online claim has worked for them. Use at your own risk and only where legal.

To use Ultra Clean alone, you just wash your hair as you normally would with it. It is unlikely that washing your hair with Ultra Clean alone will get enough drug residues out of your hair. The aforementioned study showed more than a 30 % reduction in THC metabolites which is stellar, but not really enough. Put simply, you should use it with the Jerry G Method of bleaching and dyeing which is scientifically proven. The Macujo Method on the other hand is not proven but we will describe it since some people seem to prefer it or maybe don’t want to dye their hair for whatever reason.

Directions:

Macujo Method Jerry G Method (scientifically proven, preferred)
First, shield the skin. Put jelly of petroleum around the edge of your hair so substances don’t touch your unshielded skin.  Wear goggles and gloves. Be certain the comb and other things you use in your hair do not have old hair in them which can contaminate your newly treated hair.
Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Shower caps,
  • Pink Clean and Clear acne wash,
  • Pack of liquid Tide detergent,
  • Old Style Aloe Toxin Rid
  • Goggles,
  • Disposable Gloves
  • Sink
  • Towel,
  • Warm water,
  • White vinegar,
  • Zydot Ultra Clean shampoo

Steps:

  1. Rinse the hair completely
  2. Now apply the vinegar. Remember you’re mostly trying to treat the first 1.5 inches of hair from the scalp.
  3. Now use your acne gel, the PInk Clean and Clear. Wear your shower cap while it sits for half an hour. It contains salicylic acid which may help get past the hair cuticle to access the inner shaft containing the drug residues. If you feel too much skin or scalp irritation rinse it out. It is made to go on damaged skin, so this shouldn’t happen but some people may have an allergic reaction to it.
  4. Rinse it out fully.
  5. Shampoo with Toxin Rid. If you can’t afford it, you can use an extra bottle of Ultra Clean, or any shampoo containing tetrasodium EDTA. This is a metal chelator believed to be the active ingredient in Aloe Toxin Rid shampoo.
  6. Apply one dot of Tide. If you are afraid to put this on the skin and hair, use Passion Soft and Shiny Hair Papain shampoo. This contains papain, a protease enzyme that may be safe to use on the hair since it is a meat tenderizer that is safe to eat. Tide uses protease enzymes to break up protein-based stains in clothes and detergents to break up lipids and fats (your pink clean and clear has this part covered already). Your papain shampoo will break down proteins and your acne wash will take care of oils and fats, so you won’t need the Tide detergent. Some people use Dawn dishwashing Liquid at this step. You might know they use it to clean up oil spills because it breaks down grease (fats) so well.
  7. Shampoo with Ultra Clean.
  8. Do this thrice the day ahead of the test and once on test day. On test day, have your hair looking nice and natural so they will test your treated hair and not an armpit or groin hair.
You need two boxes of ammonia containing bleach and dye. It needs to be your natural hair color. Make sure to treat the first 1.5 inches coming from your scalp because this is what a drug test will test.
Here’s what you need:
  • Hair dye and color, 2 boxes
  • Gloves
  • Aloe Toxin Rid Shampoo or a cheaper alternative
  • Baking soda
  • Zydot Ultra Clean shampoo
  • Sink, towel, warm water
  • Brand new combs or brushes (used brushes are contaminated with old hair)

Step 1. Two days ahead of your test, abstain from all substance use for drugs that may be tested for. Ask your doctor if you are taking medical marijuana, opioids, or benzos if he can write out an excuse if you need to continue using it. Some jobs, for example, truck driving, will not allow an excuse to use a benzodiazepine such as clonazepam even if you have medical needs for seizures or anxiety. You are simply disqualified for practical reasons since both the medication or condition (epilepsy) can contribute to hazardous driving.
Step 2.Shampoo with Aloe Toxin Rid or a substitute.
Step 3.  The day before the test, repeat bleaching and dyeing. Shampoo with Toxin Rid shampoo or substitute again.
The day right before the test, use your second box of bleach and dye. Use your Aloe Toxin Rid Shampoo again.
Step 4.  On test day, before your test, apply a paste made of baking soda and a little water. It is known that a strong base will help neutralize the drug residues and make them undetectable.
Step 5. Shampoo with  Zydot Ultra Clean Shampoo.

People use the Macujo Method when they don’t have 10 days to dye and bleach. However, bleaching and dyeing still have the most scientific evidence behind them, so it may be better than the Macujo Method even if you have only one day or a few hours to do it. Your hair should not look like you lust now bleached and dyed it right before coming into the test, however, or they may take a hair from your groin or armpit. Macujo is less preferred because it asks you to use things in your hair which isn’t meant for hair and could cause scalp irritation. We have remedied this to some extent by changing the Tide detergent to Papain shampoo to get the protease to break down proteins without using laundry detergent. If you decide to use the Macujo Method, be sure to protect yourself with gloves, goggles, petroleum jelly around the hairline.

The Jerry G Method is preferred. It merely consists of bleaching and dyeing your hair twice with a dye kit that contains ammonia. Many people have done this before and are unlikely to injure themselves doing it. Just follow the directions on the box. The only thing unusual about the Jerry G Method is that you have to dye the hair twice, and if I remember from my wild college days, running around with blonde and purple braids, you’re not supposed to dye your hair twice that soon, but this is mainly because it will fry your hair, not damage your skin. In the case of the Jerry G. method, you should expect to cause some damage to your hair as our referenced scientific studies have shown that the amount of drug residues that leave the hair is directly proportional to the amount of damage you do to your hair.

Online users of these methods claim they work, and they are both shown scientifically to remove some drug residues from your hair since both methods feature Ultra Clean. We should also mention that perming can remove drug residues from your hair as well. While detox products can be illegal in some states, any good lawyer can argue it can never be made illegal to successfully remove drugs from your system. If drugs are bad, it’s a matter of health to get them out of your system. These methods do not just mask drug use like dilution, they actually remove drugs from your system.

The two hair detox methods have similar claimed origins. It is claimed they were developed by users on discussion forums that discuss weed issues. The Jerry G Method was created by a fellow named Jerry G who needed to pass a drug test despite being a regular weed user. Of course, the suspicion is that they were developed by marketers trying to sell $ 235 shampoo. However, it seems like the methods were developed while Toxin Rid was still made by Nexxus and reasonably priced. So, it seems probably the methods was gamed later to include the pet shampoos of marketeers. That likely being the case, if you can’t afford the shampoos, you can likely use the methods with any shampoo containing tetrasodium EDTA which we suspect is the key ingredient.

You need to remember that everything that has come in contact with your hair should be thoroughly cleaned including your pillows, combs, your hats, and hoodies. They may recontaminate your hair with drug residues.

Terms of product Use

Ultra Clean is not always used to remove toxins for lab tests for drugs in the body of the hair shaft.  This type of usage could make it illegal in some states.

These are some of the laws which could apply to detox products.
18 U.S.C. § 371, makes it against the law to conspire against the US government. It generally takes 2 or more people for a conspiracy charge. This law was considered in prosecuting makers of the detox product known as The Whizzinator.

In Texas and Louisiana, it is against state law to produce or deliver a detox product. An article in The Dallas News tells the story of two men whose probation was revoked in Texas due to being caught using a Whizzinator. The paper claims “in Texas, it’s a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail to use or possess a substance or device designed to falsify a drug test.”[3]

Nine states make it illegal to sell an adulterant. In these states, the seller of the product may get in trouble; however, such a state may use some other law to enforce their anti-drug stances if you are caught with a detox product. Therefore be discreet. In Pennsylvania, a woman was charged with criminal mischief after asking a store clerk to microwave her synthetic urine with the attached fake Whizzinator penis.[4] The clerk called the police.  Though the woman does not appear to have been charged under the law against adulterants, she was still charged with disorderly conduct. So even if there is no law under which to prosecute you, if you are caught in a place that is unfriendly to drug users, you are likely to be charged with something. Nine states which ban the sell of adulterants are:

  1. North Carolina
  2. Oklahoma
  3. Pennsylvania
  4. South Carolina
  5. Virginia
  6. Nebraska
  7. Maryland
  8. Illinois
  9. Arkansas

A further 3 states ban the sale of detox products:

  1. Florida
  2. Kentucky
  3. New Jersey

Again, even if they only make selling is illegal, you don’t want to be brazen about possession because they may find some way to punish you. These states’ punitive policies have only added to their terrible drug problems. People who don’t get help when being outed will ruin what remains of their lives. They will be fired, their children taken away, then thrown in prison. So they hide their problem as best they can.

Don’t use Zydot if you are likely to have an allergy to any of the constituents. You should not purchase it from a drug detox site if you are under 18. However, it is sold on Amazon as a regular shampoo and does not mention being used to detox from illicit substances to beat a drug test. Therefore, it’s just a regular shampoo so long as you don’t buy it from a site that explicitly labels it a detox shampoo. Since nothing on the box suggests it is to be used to try to beat a drug test, this shampoo should be legal everywhere, unless you do something to make it very obvious that you are using it to try to beat a drug test in a jurisdiction where doing so is illegal.

Possible Side-Effects:

If you have an allergic reaction or experience pain and burning trying to use the shampoo alone or with one of the aforementioned methods, cease use and follow the instructions on the bottle of the offending product. You are unlikely to have any side effects whatsoever from the use of Zydot Ultra Clean alone, but you could certainly get side effects from the Macujo Method. If you get side effects from the Jerry G Method, follow the instructions and warnings on your hair dye product.

Additional Products For Passing Testing

To pass a saliva test:

Zydot does not appear to sell a product that will help in passing a saliva drug test. A simple peroxide mouthwash is the cheapest, simplest, and also the most effective way to pass a saliva drug test.

To pass a urine drug test:

Zydot sells Ultimate Blend Original Detox Drink for dilution for a urine drug test.  It has b-vitamins and creatine.  Follow directions. They claim this is a one-hour formula. Most detox drinks take 2 hours to work. How they are able to get the body to produce urine faster is not known, as most detox products contain diuretics but still take 2 hours to get to the point of your masked and diluted urine being the one to catch the sample cup. Maybe one would want to test the accuracy of using it after just one hour with a home drug test to be certain it works.

This user used a variation on the Macujo Method and it worked. However, she also mentions it stripped the artificial color out of her hair but left the highlights. It’s likely these cosmetic treatments helped remove or conceal drug residues.

Negative
how to use ultra clean

This user is unaware of the scientific studies but is correct on one point, you will need to do more than just wash your hair. You’ll need to also bleach and dye it. If that is for some reason unacceptable, the Macujo method may work, but we do not yet have scientific studies proving the method itself works beyond the scientific evidence that the shampoo alone will release some drug residues. We have clear evidence with the Jerry G method.

This Amazon reviewer passed and rightfully recommends using more than just the shampoo if you want to get drug residues down to undetectable levels.

[7]

This Amazon reviewer really kinda went all out using a modified Macujo Method. We do not include the entire comment as it’s too long but he has an interesting approach you can follow from the reference link. He used Heet, which is methanol antifreeze while admitting this is dangerous and foolish. Methanol he says is what is used by the lab to extract the drug residues from the hair for a drug test. It is poisonous alcohol; however, poisonings generally require drinking it. It is commonly known as a moonshine adulterant that sometimes kills people, as well as being rumored to cause blindness (proven to cause blurred vision).  Methanol has been found in hand sanitizer and lotions.[8] However, fatalities have only been reported when these products were ingested. The EU banned methanol use in windshield washer fluid due to the fact that poor alcoholics used to getting their alcohol from cleaners may mistake a methanol-based product for ethanol, leading to poisoning and fatality. In any case, we should assume that putting methanol in your hair could lead to some of it being absorbed and poisoning the body. Aside from that risk, however, it actually appears less dangerous than it sounded from the idea of putting ‘antifreeze’ in your hair. Small amounts of methanol are produced in many plants and animals including humans which means the body knows what to do with small amounts of methanol such as might be absorbed through the scalp. This user appears to have avoided being poisoned.

We located a source in The Scientist magazine which confirms that methanol can clean out drug residues, but only those which are the result of external contamination rather than from the bloodstream. Therefore, it’s application is limited if this is correct. It will only remove the drugs that you got second hand, which is not a lot but it’s worth studying the theory to see if a safer product may have a similar effect. Also, a drug like marijuana or other smoked drugs might actually contaminate from the outside more than is commonly known. In which case, methanol or a safer solvent could get an amount out of the hair that along with other methods might result in a negative test. Negative, for once, means you pass.

Results: Does Ultra Clean really work?

Our rating: 4.5 out of 5 A

Ultra Clean is the top-selling detox shampoo according to its website. That seems about right. It may be slightly less known than Toxin Rid but it costs a lot less and probably has the same active ingredients. It is scientifically studied to remove around ⅓ of marijuana residues which is not likely to be enough to pass a test but will help, used with other methods.
